I saw a reference on another forum to this http://www.youwriteon.com/ which led to this http://www.feedaread.com/?Aff=YOUWRITEON

Does anyone have any experience of these? I'm guessing it's just another form of vanity publishing really, but the involvement of a couple of big names made me look twice at it. I have no intention of using these myself, but I wondered if anyone else had used them or knew anything about them.

Several things strike me about Feedaread:

1. You have to use their free ISBN. I've forgotten why, but I've heard this isn't a good idea.

2. You can't change your book's price without uploading the whole thing again.

3. They don't publicise what the costs of production are.

4. All their testimonials are from authors, not buyers.

5. A buyer (should such a thing exist) can't search by fiction genre, which makes me think it's not geared towards selling books to readers.

Both sites look a mess, too "busy". I don't think it's traditional Vanity publishing, more a poorly structured attempt to compete with Amazon's SP (and Goodreads is now Amazon too).

Slightly reminds me of Authonomy, though it's not the same. I'm painting outdoor walls, so need to get back to it before rain comes again. I'll examine it more closely later.

Yes. They have forgotten that Self Publishing is more about Readers than Authors in their mad rush to attract Writers/Authors.

There are tens of thousands (maybe) of sites now offering services to Authors / Self Publishing Writers etc. I even have one myself (for the family, relatives and friends), though we don't sell anything on it.
