Synopsis:
Nyssa Raatko, daughter of Ra's al Ghul and member of the League of Assassins, arrives in Starling City to convince Sara to return to Nanda Parbat with her. Nyssa confronts Sara, and reveals that the two shared a past romantic relationship. Sara refuses, so Nyssa kidnaps Dinah Lance, Sara's mother, and threatens to kill her if Sara does not agree to return with her within 24 hours. Sara agrees, but drinks snake venom in an act of self-sacrifice. Arrow arrives with an antidote and Nyssa releases Sara from her obligations to the League. Meanwhile, as Moira begins her political campaign, Felicity discovers that Thea's true father was Malcolm Merlyn. Although threatened by Moira, Felicity reveals the truth to Oliver, who supports his mother's campaign publicly while privately renouncing their familial relationship. Although Sara is welcomed back by her parents, Laurel, in a fit of rage, kicks her out of her house after deciding that Sara is responsible for everything bad that has happened to her and their family. In addition, Slade decides to take care of Moira's campaign against Blood.

Main point of interest in this was Laurel's continuing descent into addiction and denial - it's good to see the writers don't have her latch on opportunities to redeem herself, but instead continue down the inevitable spiral - underlined by her blaming everything on Sarah when she re-appears, rather than being happy to see her.

Oliver's confrontation with Moira over Thea's paternity felt a little forced - Oliver has cast his life in lies, yet he's attacking his own mother for keeping secrets from her own children, especially the one that could rip apart their family? It feels more as if the writers are setting up Oliver for a fall - for when his mother one day finds out his secret identity, which IMO is where they are taking this whole "lies and confrontation" arc.

Slade - well, he's not doing much in the present time, apart from some empty villainous posturing. Bwa-ha-ha - get on with it!

Sarah and Nyssa being lovers was a little surprising, and seemed a little gratuitous - we're not given much sense that Sarah was actually bisexual, but instead, feels dangerous close to implying that she chose a non-normative sexuality after being turned from men - a dangerous statement to suggest, though perhaps I'm misreading it.

Also - is Roy going to go off at the deep end, or can be become a long-term partner in crime-fighting with the Green Arrow?
