Speaking as a ginger, I would love to see this, but realistically I know it's unlikely to happen.

Thomas Dolby, the singer-musician, absolutely should have played the Doctor in the eighties. See the video for Europa & the Pirate Twins or She Blinded me with Science. Jeremy Brett of Sherlock Holmes t.v. series could have done the part with style.
