While reading a book this weekend, I came up with a story. This story involves a retelling of Peter Pan, but broadcast and written as a YA novel, not children's. Barrie published Peter and Wendy in 1911, so how would that affect me taking his ideas, changing them, and running with 'em? Could I?

Also, would you read? Maybe?

Peter Pan is an exception to the usual copyright laws -- its royalties/licensing fees go to Great Ormond Street Hospital (The government gave it a special thingy. See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Ormond_Street_Hospital#Peter_Pan_copyright) So if you use Peter Pan or any of the characters/places etc, you'd probably need to get it licensed, or at least ask

And yes, depending on what, exactly, you're doing with it
