The sequel to the award winning Batman: Arkham Asylum has been christened, along with having its release date announced.

Warner Bros is aiming to have Batman: Arkham City out come autumn next year, barring any development hold-ups, on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 formats.

Set in Arkham City (unsurprisingly), which is a maximum security “home” for all Gotham’s various thugs, lowlifes and criminal masterminds, it promises an all-star cast of villains like the Joker.

CVG reports that Two Face and Mr Freeze will definitely be putting in an appearance, as will Cat Woman, possibly as a co-op partner.

Yes, they reckon developer Rocksteady could be introducing a co-operative play mode, which would be a welcome addition to an already winning formula.

There’s a suitably moody trailer up on the freshly unveiled website, which you can feast your peepers on here. Only a year and a bit to wait, then…
