It seems that Peter Jackson might be planning to tweak the ending of The Hobbit film to be more cinematic, when it finally hits the big screen.

According to Tolkien fan site TheOneRing.net, an inside source has revealed a snippet of Bilbo’s character summary, which states: “[although] he doesn’t have huge courage he does become, particularly in the last battle, very brave.”

Of course, in the book, Bilbo spends most of that last battle very unconscious, so this has led to speculation that the script will be changed so he’s not only up and about for the fight, but possibly also pulling off some heroics.

It’s an understandable change, from a cinematic point of view, although purists may not agree.

Another interesting point to emerge from TheOneRing.net’s tipster is that production on the film will begin in January, only a few months from now. This is all vague rumour, however, but we can hope…
