Child of Eden is a colourful and psychedelic Kinect-powered shooter due next month (and on PS3 Move later in the summer).

Ubisoft has just published a trailer on YouTube which shows the tutorial for the Xbox Kinect version, illustrating exactly how you’ll blast your way through a horde of alien ships using just a flick of your hand.

Your right hand will control the lock-on laser, and this can tag up to eight targets at a time, after which flicking your hand forward swiftly will blast those enemies into oblivion. Killing more simultaneously will net bonus points, as will timing your blasts to the pumping music (a novel little idea).

As for your right hand, that controls the tracer, a constant rapid-fire gun which can also be used to shoot down incoming enemy bullets.

We’re really not sure quite how this one is going to perform, but we’re more than happy to give it a blast. At least it’s something a bit different for Kinect away from the early rash of sports, dance and exercise type games.
