the story goes like this:
an interstellar factory ship malfunctions and crashes on a frozen planet/moon in Sol system. the resulting robots evolve intelligence and learn to "reproduce" through sharing "DNA" (AKA programming) meanwhile, on earth a "psychic" scientist/businessman learns of this project and is brought along (with his cronies/ support staff) and learns how to communicate with the "aliens" and frees them from a robot tyranny.

trying to find the book again and need some help, please!

sorry, did not realize what the icon I chose meant, was trying to put a question mark on this.

also the planet/moon was not totally frozen as there was mention of methane lakes and rivers.
