Proof-reading on Kindle

I have been sending out drafts to different kindles for proof-reading (if anyone hasn't read their MS on a kindle - I would highly recommend it!)

I was informed last week that one of my dear proof-readers had lost their kindle, and crucially, hadn't deleted earlier drafts I'd sent them.

The kindle has been de-registered and the drafts deleted from the account. Apparently Amazon said the drafts can no longer be accessed on the device. However I deleted a draft from my own account, but can still access it on my Kindle...

Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know how to remote block documents on a Kindle? I'm being driven mad by the knowledge my early drafts could be out there somewhere! :(

I'm not 100% on this, but I think it depends on the wifi.

When you delete a file from the account, it should be deleted on the Kindle the next time it uses the wifi to update its library. But if the Kindle's wifi is disabled, the file will never be deleted unless whoever has it either deletes it themselves or turns on the wifi.
