Well, Stargate Universe has only just started on free-to-air TV in Australia. I have to say that I'm really enjoying it and can't uderstand why it got such poor ratings in America. It's taken on a more realistic "lost" kinda of feel which I think is a refreshing change of pace for Stargate after 15 seasons combined of SG1 and SGA.

The thing that really strickes me about the show is that it makes space feel big again. Space is wide and open and lonely, and it really does feel like they're a long way from home. During Atlantis (which I loved) the Pegasus Galaxy seemed like next door, and the presence of humans made it a little too familiar.

Rather than immediately going for 'the next big alien threat' they've been telling very human stories about survival in the wilds of space.

It's bitter-sweet starting the show, knowing that it has been cancelled, but I'm going to enjoy it regardless.
