Female dragon slayer

Growing up my parents read my sisters and I a book about a female dragon slayer. She discoveres a secret oil that makes her immune to the dragons breath. There was a sequal/prequal about another girl that gets kidnapped by people that lived in the wilderness but she leads them agains some army that is trying to attack.

I can't remember the name of either of them. Can anyone help?

The first is The Hero and the Crown, and the second is The Blue Sword, both by Robin McKinley.

Good books - I have them both, and they often get re-read...

Pretty much so - I don't think Disney would have to cut much out of them if they were filming them.
