TMS of "The Unnamable" turns up at eBay

Wasn't the WT printing of this story the best text previously available?

Correct.

I wonder who prepared this copy (Barlow?) and what it's based on.

Well, since it's got HPL's autograph and his own autograph corrections, I think it is a safe bet that the text is as pure as it possibly can be.

I guess it may have been retyped from a tattered original (HPL had the bad habit of lending original Mss or carbon copies until they fell apart).

The text used by S. T. for the Corrected Text AH edition was based on the tale's first appearance in Weird Tales. It's cool because we can actually read the typescript of the entire tale on the link provided above! I see that "centre" is spelled thus therein, as it is reproduced in the text in Penguin's The Dreams in the Witch House and Other Weird Tales; Derleth altered it to "center" in Beyond the Wall of Sleep. The last page of the manuscript is in Lovecrft's handwriting. O gawd for an extra $2,000!!!
