I've heard there are so many different ways to read the Shannara series.
So far I've read The First King, The Sword of Shannara, and I'm halfway through The Elfstones of Shannara. I guess I'll finish up the series, but then after that what do I read?
I have the whole Word and Void trilogy, and I've been excited to delve into it.
What would be the story experience if I jumped right to those without reading anything in the middle (and is it actually the middle)?

The Word and Void trilogy is set before all the other books so you could certainly read those next.

Perhaps I will start into that next.
What's the rest of the Shannara series like?

I loved the original series that started with the Sword of Shannara. I'm reading the Word and Void, and I don't like it as well. If you like modern fantasy in a real life setting, you might like it. I love the epic setting of the original.
