going crazy finding a title

I read this book way back, late 60's/early 70's. About divers finding an underwater cave and an underwater world. I seem to remember a description that the divers swam through glass tunnels? Found a creature living there. Seem to remember him being green? Anyone out there remember something like that? Sorry I can't remember more.

Long shot: It might be Stranger from the Depths (1967) by Gerry Turner. I haven't read it, so I can't vouch for the plot details, but the timing is right, and it has come up before, so it seems worth a mention.
