A friend in the BSFA Orbiters group has this request.
"I'm looking for a Sci Fi Short which you might be able
to locate for me.
It's about a research scientist on a frighteningly verdant, jungle
planet. He lives in a kind of secure biodome and has to wear
protective gear when he leaves it. He makes friends with a little
alien inhabitant of the planet but, when his suit becomes compromised,
the little alien doesn't save him because he's too accepting of fate
to contemplate that it's possible to save him.
If anyone can find this story for me, I'd be forever grateful.

I'm not sure whether it is a short story or a novel.
