Roman werewolves

I remember reading about a book where the main protagonist is a female werewolf during the roman times - but I cannot remember either author or the title

Sounds like something written by Alice Borchardt, who just happens to be Anne Rice's sister.

I've not read any of her books, but this one sounds very much like it might be a possibility:
