any good historical books

I'd recommend Tim Willocks' "The Religion". It's the first book of a projected trilogy, and this one centres around the battles between Sulieman the Magnificent and The Knights of Saint John the Baptist over Malta in May of 1565.

Lots of action, tons of battle scenes. The book is chock full of win.

But beware: the battle scenes are some of most gruesome, and gory I've ever read.

Try the Sunne in Splendour by Sharon Penman. It is about the Wars of the Roses. Another good one is In a Dark Wood Wandering by Hellas Hasse. That is about the Duke of Orleans and the battle of Agincourt onwards.
