Hello, :)

I am new to this forum, so please forgive if I have posted my query in the wrong place. I am in the process of writing a SF novel and would be interested to know if any guidance exists detailing how many words per book would be acceptable to a publisher for this genre. I have received advice from other sources estimating anything between 60,000 - 125.000 per novel. I am not going to get too hung up / distracted, but, it is a little niggle in my head that will not go away.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

JJ.

There was a discussion of this on this http://www.sffchronicles.co.uk/forum/42294-question-of-pages.html thread, and I seem to remember another one earlier, but if I were you, I'd concentrate on getting the story written as well as possible, the length it wants to be, and then see how long it is. "Writing to a length" is for essays, not novels. Then, of course, your editor's going to ask you to change things, but at least you'll know it was right once.
