I just posted at the end of a thread I found in a search for Survivors.. which then turned out to be under Blakes Seven thread for some reason.. so I thought I would start a new one in its own right and paste my post in here in case anyone is interested... excuse my enthusiasm but just found this site yesterday and discovering all kind of interesting things here!

My post below and a link to that thread http://www.chronicles-network.net/forum/showthread.php?p=58107#post58107

Re: Survivors
Survivors was brilliant.. it was indeed a Terry Nation creation but he was pushed out later so not many were written by him in the end.. three series in the 70's.. repeated only once on UK Gold a good few years ago before they abandoned showing old classic british dramas in favour of vicar of dibley etc endlessly!

First two series now available on dvd.. get them you wont be disappointed I think.. if enough people buy them they will go on and issue the last series. The first is the best, the middle not so good but the last picks up again.. is very very atmospheric.. for budget reasons they did not afford a soundtrack.. so its really moody and quiet a lot of the time as they wander around the countryside trying to survive first and then form communities second..

In the first series Abby Grant was played by Caroline Seymour, now better known for her Star Trek work..

Its quite the cult classic now with numerous websites..

lots of info and links to more on those two sites for anyone interested

I've yet to get around to buying these but I will eventually. In the meantime, I've just picked up the old Timeslip series and the Quatermass 4 parter from the 70s. Good to see so many of these old quality works being brought out on DVD :)

Absolutely! I must get those Quatermass dvd's too.. would love to see them again..

I still have most of the second series of Survivors to watch.. I have been saving them for as long as I can resist.. is great to know that you have such splendid stuff stashed away for a rainy day... (bit of a joke here as the sky keeps dropping the atlantic on us every day right now!)
