Has no one ever questioned when Peter meets up with anyone he gets their gift?
It seems that it's genetic, therefore, Nathan can fly, Peter is an Empathy, what gifts do the Petrelli parents have and why isn't Peter absorbing from his mum?

As we're watching from new, we're still trying to figure things out - I think Peter is absorbing gifts from others, but it's exciting watching how everything turns out.

I figure because of Pete & his brother's abilities, the depression the dad suffered maybe has a bit more to it than the story has revealed to us so far.
