Revisions on supervolcano and human history

That's an interesting story. I always thought that genetic diversifaction of today's human population is considered very limited, suggestion that at some point in the past major extinctions must have taken place. So if not the Toba supervolcano, something else then? A pandemic?

Wouldn't be the first time a volcano altered human history, whether pre history or not. Just look at the Santorini volcano- that wiped out the minoan civilisation and made more than half the island sink to the bottom of the sea.

A big catastrophic one may even wipe out the entire human race.

Very interesting article, J.D. Thanks!:)

I agree. Most vulnerable is the so-called civilized world. We have not learned to survive with our bare hands. After a supervolcano eruption so-called primitive cultures have a better chance. E.g. the ones in the Brazilian rainforest or Papua Newguinea.
