Patch to treat "dementia"

I don't think this is very cutting-edge here. This drug is already on the market in pill form. A patch is just a different form of medication administration. They didn't really develop a new drug here.

Although I've never heard of Exelon, it is in the same class as Aricept and Namenda. These are anti-cholinergics that are commonly used to treat sympoms of early dementia. It would appear that the real advantages of a patch are that it is sustained released throughout the day, and it causes no stomach problems since it is not ingested.

Had not kept up with such (not really having a reason to for a long time), so thanks for the information.:)

However... it does seem we're getting a fair number of news stories about things dealing with such subjects of late. Three in this short a time is a bit unusual, I'd say. Is there just a real ferment going on in this branch of medical science lately, or ...?
