Okay I'm not sure where this thread should call home-if it lives long enough to have one!I'm sure wiser people will move it if not..anyway.

Here is a place to post all your favourite poems, sayings, lyrics and other such stuff. I know that I have been introduced to writers/music etc that I didn't know before coming on the Chrons and have found all to be beneficial to my creativity and also just made me happy.:D

Okay so I'll start you off with my current favourite poem:

I want a heart...

I want a heart that fits me,
and furnished with a soul,
a spark, some need, two lives, and love,
or else no heart at all.

I want two shoes that fit me,
and furnished with a sole,
a rolling sky, some road, and hope,
or else no shoes at all.

I want a face that fits me,
and furnished with my soul,
a mirror of my heart and hope,
or else no face at all.

Anonymous Suriname (country of origin)

Enjoy:D and share.

*Ben,you naughty boy,I didn't know you could be such a romantic*
Love doesn't make the world go round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.
If you have it Love, you don't need to have anything else, and if you don't have it, it doesn't matter much what else you have.

Love is like pi - eternal, irrational, and 3.14159...

I felt light-headed, naseous, and I was tingling all over. Either I was in love, or I was coming down with a case of small pox.

Sorry. Not really inspirational, are they? :p

I always liked this little verse, from (if I recall correctly) an eighth century monk, written in Latin in the margins of a text he was translating:

I and Pangur Bán, my cat,
‘Tis a like task we are at;
Hunting mice is his delight,
Hunting words I sit all night.
Better far than praise of men
‘Tis to sit with book and pen;
Pangur bears me no ill will,
He too plies his simple skill…
…So in peace our tasks we ply,
Pangur Bán, my cat, and I;
In our arts we find our bliss,
I have mine and he has his.
Practice every day has made
Pangur perfect in his trade;
I get wisdom day and night
Turning darkness into light.

That's brilliant! Just goes to show how loved cats are, too. I think I might nick it. :p

Love is grand; divorce is a hundred grand.

Ah, Mr Businessman!

Ah, Mr Businessman! Nothing but a heart-bank.
Faith-in-profit: despair-in-loss.
Bank on Faith-in-God-
and-Prophet! A lossless business.

NIght, HSF. Sleep well!

A verse I've always like. It's by Spike Milligan:

A bee, a bee,
Is after me,
And that is why,
I flee, I flee.

This bee, this bee,
Appears to be,
Very, very,
An-ger-ee.

A Quote by Spike surely will make me sleep better

But what about a pointed stick?

My two favourite parts of the ballad of Tam lin:

O I forbid you, maidens a',
That wear gowd on your hair,
To come or gae by Carterhaugh,
For young Tam Lin is there.

and

'But had I kend, Tam Lin,' she says,
'What now this night I see,
I wad hae taen out thy twa grey een,
And put twa een o tree.'

and one by T Moore (yes with the two OO's)

But high she shoots through air and light
Above all low delay. Where nothing
earthly bounds her flight nor
shadow dimms her way

and some real life quotes from me:
It's all fun and games, until someone loses an eye, or in this case, a spine.
Oh no, we are trapped! like mice in a blender.
Kill kill kill!
The mummy of the mummy returns again and again (the mummy 5:p )
A good chainsaw solves many problems.
(okay I can apparently only remember the weird ones... )

Can't sleep, had some thoughts, wrote them down. Not sure what to call them.
All of us cry for love,or at least recognition. For some of us,there is no answer to that cry, just an echo at night.
Love has no price,nor weight,
it knows no time,it endures,
it can't be bartered, nor bought or traded,
it can't be fought over
it can just be given,unconditionally,
or not at all
It is so easy to love those with beautiful eyes
and red lips,
and so much harder to love
the miserly,the conniving,the criminal,
the ancient,the pityful,the malignant,
the sick,the laughable,the broken,the dying
and the crippled, woeful mass of humanity.

Love need no defense,it has no enemies
Ben

Love has no price, but it's accessories do.

Sorry, I really can't help it. :p

---

I'd call it a poem, HSF (sorry - once I get a name in my head, I don't really change it. To me you shall always be HSF). And it's a good at that.

Actually Len,your mind somewhat works like mine,I suppose.ANd I really think your first sentence ,while superficially facetious*try to say that one quickly, then call the paramedix*,has a profound truth to it.
Len,thanks mate for not laughing, and torpedoing this lyrical outburst of feeling, whatchamacallit to Davy Jones' locker
I think you're a tops guy,and you just reminded me of the reason why, should i ever leave here,it will be kicking, screaming, and USING VERY LARGE FONTS,and a megaphone to boot.
as if you couldn't tell, these verbal thingies just pop up,and i have to write them down quickly,or it's gone.....
Thanks again, there should be more EMUS like you.No skip that

THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE:p

Too right there can be only one. Any more and the world would be in dire trouble!

Not so much inspirational,as bleak
Yeah,I know, don't tell me
Life/sentence
You’re given
The wallet,but not the money
The eyes,but not the eyesight,
The respect,but never the love,
The thirst but never the water,
The pain but never the medicine
The drugs,but not the rush,
The funeral,but not the mourners,
The comedy,but not the laughter,
The Tragedy,but not the tears
The sentence,but not the verdict
The inspiration,but not the audience
The play,but not the direction
You see,
life is a game you get to play in,
but you‘re never given the rules, are never
certain of the prize,
pity it’s the only game in town

Here are some chinese proverbs I like:

From ancient times, men have mourned
Great things put to petty uses.

The past, the present, where do they end?
A thousand years are gone with the wind.

Wine and wenches cost money.

Play is a gift from heaven, work is a man-made ill.

Fish big enough to swallow a boat are not found in ditches.

There is no logical reason for this misfortune. Thus it must be part of my destiny.

:)

I found a proverb that was rather nice for any would-be writers:

A drop of ink can make a million think.

And:

A closed mind is like a closed book: just a block of wood.

Oh, and one that I like:

Consciousness is just that annoying time between sleep!
