The 2nd in the Troy series will be with us this month and David's widow has vowed to finish the third to this trilogy Sept next year??
 
the second book in the troy series is

Troy: Shield of Thunder

and the third which is due out in September is to be called

Troy: The Fall of Kings
 
Will be sad to read Troy series knowing that it was his last work :(

About Troy series, is it close to Homer or is it mostly DG version of the war?

I just saw that the realese year are wrong for many of the Drenai in that list.
My version is correct i took it from a DG Faq

In my opinion it's totally a DG version. I could give examples but would spoil the story.

Im not interested in Homer's version, i want DG of course ;)
 
I've got the last two Troy books but haven't managed to read them yet because I know when I do they'll be the last Gemmell books of his I ever read. Although there are a coule of his earlier ones I've not found when he was writing under a pen name.

Are the last two part of the series or are they just set in the same world? I only have the first nine.
 
Hi all,
As a long term Gemmell fan, I have developed an unhealthy fixation on David Gemmell's unpublished works. This has led me to build a slightly vague timeline on the known works. The information comes from auction info of a couple of works, prefaces of compilations, interviews he has given and actually seeing a couple of the works.
'66-'67: The Man From Miami (crime/thriller). Written in his late teens while working as a lorry drivers mate. David Gemmell would later happily remark how terrible it was. No evidence I have seen that it still exists.
'67-'68: 16 page? screen play on the life of Aleister Crowley. Rejected by the BBC. Indicated that it is to be put on sale by its owner (not me) soon, probably eBay.
'68-'69: The Hawk (heroic fantasy). Crime boss Stuart Hawks is sent into the body of a conan-like barbarian on a distant world on the brink of a great war between the barbarian hordes and the last vestigues of a crumbling civilization. Also includes Extracts from the Book of Karnak and Extracts from the Book of Namir as other point of view characters. Several copies of the manuscript exist.
'69-'70: Devilblade aka Hogun's Adventures in the North. Sequel to 'The Hawk' following the exploits of a character met briefly in the first novel. Possibly never completed or even written as I have seen no evidence of its existance other than mentions in The Hawk and accompanying letter that was sent to the publisher ( the gemmell auction a couple of years ago).
'70-'72 Caswallen (heroic fantasy? ) Sold in the Gemmell auction a few years ago. 80 page novelette. Sadly I know nothing more about it.
'76 The Siege of Dros Delnoch (early version of Legend). A much shorter book than Legend shown to Stella several years after it was written, where she suggested the characters would be more interesting displaying their weaknesses as well as their strengths. I have seen no evidence its existence now.
'84-'85: The Chaos Warrior (later re-written as The First Chronicles of Druss the Legend) First chapter was published in GM Magazine. Rejected by publisher as Druss came across as too invincible by my understanding.
'84-'85: The King Beyond the Gate (original version) A story of King Arthur and time travel. Possibly re-written as Ghost King. Rejected by publisher who said only liked the title!
And of course the Lost Crown, a children's novel written with his young daughter at the time. Rejected by the publisher on the basis that it needed a 'voice' for children. Lost forever with the loss of the manuscript and corruption of the original disc.
Probably many mistakes by me, since I have not got much to go by; but I thought others may be interested.

I need to get back to reading some Gemmel. As I remember them, really good story but a little unpolished. Amazing development of character and good dialogue, as I remember. And good pacing.

While Northern Lights was my introduction to fantasy, the Rigante series was my first love.
