Best of luck with the upcoming book Teresa. Needless to say I'll be purchasing this book when it comes out on the strength of HS. I'm pleased to see you're including a detailed synopsis of HS with Book 2. It always annoys me when authors omit summaries as it means I have to go back and skim though earlier installments to remember the critical points in the text.

    Hi!
I look forward to this sequel. The first volume is the only one of your books I own in English. Now I can appreciate your lovely prose.
I loved Goblin Moon and The Gnome's Engine. Sadly the translation into German is extremly bad. They translated "sensible" as "sensitive" and "man of the cloth" as "clothed man".
If your new books will ever be translated try to get a better translator!
    Best wishes from Germany!
    Maria

    Ouch.

Unfortunately, when foreign rights are sold it's the publishing house buying them that chooses the translator; the author has no say in the matter at all. Not that it would be any better, in my own case, if I did have a choice, my ignorance of any language other than English.

Anyway, welcome to my little forum here at the Chronicles, Maria.

(Oh, and regarding Goblin Moon, there may be news of a reprint coming up soon.)

Re: The Rune of Unmaking: A DARK SACRIFICE -- Dec. 2007

I checked the amazon listing today to see if they finally had the cover art, and sure enough they did. But the release date was December 1, which I thought a little early, since Eos used to release their trade paperbacks later in the month. So off to the HarperCollins site to see what they had to say, and they are saying "In Stores November 20."

Strange that it would be available in stores before amazon gets it, and strange that I wouldn't know they had switched it from December to November. So now I don't know what to think. (But of course I am hoping for the earlier date.)

Me too! I've already searched for it on Amazon to see if I could add it to my wish list. While I was at it, I ordered a copy of The Queen's Necklace. I look forward to reading both books (although I might want to reread The Hidden Stars first, since its been a while).

Teresa, I somehow managed to miss this thread when it first came around. Congratulations on achieving your goal and I looking forward to reading it. I'll have to keep tabs here.

Thank you. It was a relief to finally get it finished after working on it so long.

Of course it was a short-lived relief, since I am now working on Book Three and they're already asking "when?"

But I'm excited about the scenes I'm writing now and about scenes yet to come. HS and DS are both rather ... chaste ... not by specific intention, that's just the way they went, but there seems to be a significant element of sexual tension building in the last book. Also, there are going to be many revelations about the past (some of them are turning out to be revelations even to me.)

In DS there were few surprises for me (though I hope there will be many for the reader) since the events of that book had been planned out well in advance, but I was always hazier about what was going to happen in the third book, so writing the new one is more of an adventure.

Re: The Rune of Unmaking: A DARK SACRIFICE -- *NOVEMBER*

They've changed the listing at amazon from Dec. 1 to Nov. 20, and they give the November date in two or three places on the HarperCollins/Eos site (along with a little digital clock counting down the days, hours, minutes, and seconds -- as if we're all going to be storming the bookstores at one second after midnight on the day), so I'm now convinced that must be the actual release date.

It's really too early for me to get excited, and yet ... there is something exciting about finding out that it will be for sale eleven days earlier than I thought it would be.

Since my name is not J. K. Rowling, something tells me they won't be opening the stores at that hour, scalem.

    Or even unpacking the boxes.

I just received this excerpt from next week's PW review of A Dark Sacrifice:

"Gripping ... Swift pacing, well-crafted characters and vivid battle scenes lift this well above the average
    Tolkien-inspired fantasy."

This is the first review I've seen, so of course it's a great relief.

(And as a side note, today is my three year anniversary on Chronicles.)

From the little you sent me of the draft, I'd say that's an astute reviewer. I find it amazing that you feel you have to hold your breath any more, Teresa. I've read a lot of fantasy over the years and there are not many who can turn a story out like you can. I know that flattery gets you everywhere and all that, but I'm most serious. Your writing is fantastic. I very much look forwards to reading A Dark Sacrifice.

I always worry that what I've written won't be good enough, Mark. That fear never really goes away, although sometimes it hides for a while. But whenever a new book comes out, the darned thing starts peering out at me with blood-shot eyes.

Well, available for pre-order and should be shipped by or on Tuesday. Except sometimes they fill the new orders first and make the pre-orders wait.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it whenever it is they send it out.

    Teresa,

I just read The Hidden stars for the second time and then I read A Dark Sacrifice. Congratulations, they were amazing!!! You are a great author. I forgot how throughly developed you created the world, down to every last detail. And I love how you went back to some details that didn't seem as important and warped them into an integral part of the story. Without giving away any spoilers, what you did with Maelor and Cullioc (I hope I spelled it right =P) was so unexpected. I can't wait for the next book!!! You ended it on such a cliffhanger. I rarely reread books, but I feel like I could keep rereading this and still enjoy it. I hope you finish the next one soon. Actually I take that back, take as much time as you need to make the next one just as amazing.

    Congratulations!

P.S. when are your older books going to be in print again, or how can I get a copy? I can't seem to find any anywhere.

I have the book courtesy of Teresa and will read it first week of January. After that I will post my review. I only hope my words do her work justice.
