Updating this thread with new release details :) -

September 2005 : Hardback -
High Druid Of Shannara: Straken

Rune,

As a moderator are you not able to edit the original biblio thread as things are updated? Seems to me that would be the ideal scenario.

I know as a general user you can't edit your post after a set time. HMM.. come to think of it Brian has probalby posted rules on this stuff, time for some more reasearch..

Bye for now..:D

I could edit the original posts, but I wanted to add them on instead so that the new info stood out :D

Fair enough, although you could always have a "New Stuff" section at the bottom of each bio post and add it in that way.

Anyway, I guess as long as people notice, it doesn't matter I suppose.

All the best...:D

I just got mail from the library that they have the copy of Sword of Shannara i ordered.

Hope its more than the Tolkien rip off people claim.

It's not a Tolkien Rip-off. Yes, there are some similarities (being fantasy) but other than that, they are totally different settings, worlds, universes, etc.
Also, this novel sets the stage for everything else that follows, before and after, so it's impossible for it to be a rip-off of Tolkien.
Yes, there are Elves, Dwarves, Men, etc. but they way they come about/have evolved is totally different to Tolkien in that there was an evolution. I don't want to spoil the reading, but there's a lot more going on than just Tolkien copying.

A minor point on the bibliography link above; one should ignore the list on that first page, selecting 'Novels' instead.....

Also, Brooks' site notes that he's now working on Legends of Shannara, with Book I Bearers of the Black Staff due out this August....

I thought I might update a little...

Legends of Shannara
  • Bearers of the Black Staff
  • The measure of the Magic
A Shannara Novella
  • Indomitable (in the Legends II anthology)
The Dark Legacy of Shannara
  • Wards of Faerie
  • Bloodfire Quest
  • Witch Wraith
Defenders of Shannara
  • The High Druid's Blade (March 11, July, 15 2014)
  • The Darkling Child (forthcoming 2014 August 2015)
  • Untitled Book Three (forthcoming 2016)

Landover
Untitled Final Book (forthcoming)

I just want to add the last one published from Defenders of Shannara:

  • The Sorcerer's Daughter (May 24, 2016)
And for The Magic Kingdom of Landover:
  • A princess of Landover (2010)

I have to add the first book in the new Shannara series:

The Black ElfStone (will publish 13 June 2017), available for pre-order

Update:

The Fall of Shannara trilogy:

The Black ElfStone (2017)
