In 1955, when Jim Henson premiered his first show, Sam & Friends in washington DC, on WRC-TV, he revolutionized puppetry on television and redefined family entertainment. From that small beginning, the Jim Henson Company, always using cutting-edge technology, went on to produce a long series of outstanding and groundbreaking productions with thousands of memorable characters. Today the company's innovations in puppetry, animatronics, and computer graphics are celebrated throughout the world.
Join us for an afternoon of screenings, activities, and special guests from the Jim Henson Company.
12:15 p.m. Fraggle Rock screening, hosted by Jocelyn Stevenson
1:15 p.m. Drop-in puppet-making workshop (continues throughout afternoon)
2:15 p.m. Sneak preview of the new television series, Frances, and a live demonstration of the company's revolutionary digital puppeteering system
3:00 p.m. Book signing with Lisa Henson, It's Not Easy Being Green and Other Things to Consider
4:00 p.m. Jim Henson's Storyteller screening, hosted by Brian Henson
Tickets: There is a $5 admission charge for this event. Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased in the Museum lobby during regular Museum hours or by calling the Museum at (310) 786-1091 between noon and 5:00 p.m.
Sales are final and tickets cannot be refunded. Programs and
participants are subject to change.
