I have a wife and you have a grandson. His playground is much bigger than my own.

I thought I knew what war was truly about: killing, power, greed. It is still about those things, I just did not realize how quickly, how easily I can, and will kill, and with little remorse, now that I am surrounded by people who challenge me, demand everything I have, every day.

I thought love of others brought you peace and quiet and understanding. I believe eventually it will. Until that time, I will fight for every moment that I can have with these people who are now my family.

Congrats, Dad. You got what you wanted. I am no longer a scientist; I am a soldier.
