Do you think Saavik was a Romulan/Vulcan hybrid?

In the newest edition of ST: The Magazine, the writers in ST II: TWOK originally put in the script and story that Saavik's mother was the Romulan Commander seen in "The Enterprise Incident" and her father was Spock.

I actually do believe she is a Romulan/Vulcan hybrid

What do you think?

That seems to fit the character she portrayed nicely.

Really, there ought to be little difference between Romulans and Vulcans, they have only been separated for a few thousand years, therefore genetically identical. In TOS 'The Balance of Power' everyone is shocked at how alike Spock and the Romulans are.

My only problem would be exactly when Spock had his next seven year Pon Farr, and her Romulan mother conceived Saavik. Are you suggesting that this actually happened in 'The Enterprise Incident' episode itself? I don't think that she even took her boots off, and it was only a year after the events in 'Amok Time'.

I was always under the impression that she was a hybrid anyway - but I'm not sure why. Did I read that in the old FASA sourcebooks I wonder...
