these are grest guys, I have also always been a fan of the ship names, so for posterity I shall add my own. Let's see how silly I can get.

It was like that when I got here
Phew! I thought it was new
Amoebas on fleas on rats
shortback and sides grade two
I did think of it, but you said it first
it wasn't meant to turn out like that
lightspeed is for losers
He isn't in my banks
Spermicidal Ovulations
I'll give him one of these!
But if you were me then I'd be you and I'd use your body to get to the top (probably the single greatest line in any film anywhere ever)
A Priest, A Rabbi and a Muslim cleric walk into a ski-shop
Did you ever stop to think? No but I started!
It's my go on the swings
If there's one thing you know about me

God, I could go on all day (that wasn't one) :)

Anyone got a pontilled Brodum's or Daffy's they do
(apologies for any repetitions) How about:

ROUs...
- Stop that or you'll be in trouble
- Wait 'till your father gets home
- I'm not going to wait 'till your father gets home
- Idle hands
- Gravitas is for wimps
- Don't be stupid. Oh, OK then.
- Outside Context Problem for hire (only joking)

GSVs ...
- Crunchy on the outside
- Optimistic, in spite of all the evidence
- Pessimistic, in spite of all the evidence
- Yet another victim of applied metaphysics
- Beautiful data (Ignore any outliers)
- Realistically it's highly unlikely

Someone else already bagged 'Indistinguishable from magic', which is a goodie IMO.

Despite these efforts, I haven't noticed Iain using any of these names. Come on Banksy! Also, are there naming standards pertaining to ROUs vs GSVs? I must have missed it, or it is too subtle for me (been known to happen).

The various types of OUs do seem to have more violent names than the non-warships, such as the Killing Time or Falling Outside the Normal Moral Constraints.

UltraCulture's "May Contain Nuts" is probably my favorite but Pyan's "Einstein Was Wrong" is right up there. I also liked Gully Foyle's "Bad News" and many others are good and/or sound right. My attempts:

ROU...
Diplomacy by Other Means
You Should See the Other Ship
You Wouldn't Like Me When I'm Angry
Bang!
Smells Like Victory
The Other Side of the Issue
Enough Rope

GSV...
Cavort-prone (from Banks, himself, but not as a ship name)

Given the news yesterday, I imagine Banks being subsumed into a Mind and travelling the galaxy aboard the Not Confined To Any One Genre.
