I'd agree with it being my second favourite, even though the puppets were particularly wooden, and the effects poorer.

I think I'd rate Stingray as number 3, after Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet.

Those Aquaphibians spooked me out when I was young, I think it was their eyes that did it - even now they look pretty creepy to me.

But I thought Marina was rather cute - for a puppet that is!

Hehe, I don't think we're alone in admitting this, I have seen threads that deal with this subject on other boards and there were plenty of other people who had the same thoughts!

I also thought those Angels from Captain Scarlet were pretty hot too!

I remembered the theme music, & while watching DVD #1, it resonated as the crew were lowered into place. I liked the voice characteristics, the one villain's was clearly modeled on Peter Lorre.

I plan to watch a few more discs, at the least.

It was years before I found out that Atlanta was voiced by Lois Maxwell aka Miss Moneypenny. But it was the theme that was so memorable, both opening and closing.

I always preferred Stingray to Thunderbirds or Captain Scarlet.

The special effects were by Derek Medding, whose work on the Bond movies (for example) were excellent for the time. I suspect working with Anderson allowed him to explore his chosen field to its limits.

Stingray also introduced the "swap-over" heads, particularly when Troy was under stress. They'd cut away and when we came back, he'd be scowling intently. The next time they used this so dramatically was in Captain Scarlet.

It was also, of course, the first Anderson series filmed in colour for US distribution.
