As a fan of Babylon 5, I saw definite parrallels with the way both stories were handled and it was this that renewed my interest in DS9.
Up until the Dominion War story I had rather lost interest in DS9, but the prospect of an interesting and multi-faceted storyline kept me tuned in till the very end - which, by the way, was nearly as good as the final battle scenes from B5.
