My apologies for this post....it's an ego thing. The first to post in a new chat section!

As I've noted elsewhere I wouldn't mind seeing Lexx. Here in Australia (New South Wales to be more exact), the TV station that has the rights to Lexx has put it on very late at night buried amongst the shopping shows and pathetic American chat shows. So, of course, Lexx is getting off to a really good start.

The first season has just finished here, I think. I gather, from reading TV Zone, that it gets better in the second season. Is that right? Can I pick it up okay having missed the first season?

Wehay... first poster here ! Good question .. i am going to do some lexx reading tomorrow but now i have to go to bed!

Hi Corfaza,

Yes, you should be able to pick up second season at just about any point without having seen first season. A word of warning, though, if you stumble onto an episode that makes you think that it's nothing but softporn, you've probably hit Love Grows - ignore that episode and watch the next one ;-> You'll want to tag back and see the movies at some point...or head over to Sadgeezer's site at http://www.sadgeezer.com/lexx/ and read the synopses of the movies. They're each about two or three screens'worth, and will completely get you up to date on who's who and what's what. That will take you, oh, about 30 minutes.

I've posted a Lexx "primer" in the "Welcome to the Dark Zone" thread. You can find more info there. ;->

It's pretty new - first shown in 1997 on USA cable station Showtime.

Eh, ok then it just seems that the show is like a 1970 scifi show with the costumes and all. Its not bad but i cant stans that Stanley Tweedle dude. The show isnt that bad but im half a sleep when watching it and yeah i dont remember the story lines...

Tis ok about the confusion... :)

No offence taken, Mirai, I think.....

Should I be offended for being mistaken for Corzafa?

Hehe. No. Definatley not :)

Lexx is a great series, it's like nothing else in the sci-fi genre! But S3 was by far the worst of the three, i was continually hoping that Lexx would blow everything up and move on... hopefully S4 will get back on track :)

Kai is one cool character, Tweedle has his merits, mostly for comedy value though..

But the big debate: Zev or Xev. Who was better? I'd go for the 2nd incarnation who i *think* was the one called Xev..

Yep, first incarnation Zev of B3K, second incarnation Xev. (Triviata: the last name of the character is taken from the postal code of Salter Street and Electropolis, and the robot's name is taken from the street address of one of the head writers.)

I actually liked S3. It is a completely different cuppa from S1/2, but I did enjoy it. Call me an archetype junkie. I wouldn't call them equal by any means - it's a bit like comparing apples and oranges. I can't honestly say as I'd really enjoy another season of that tone, though. For one, I don't think I could keep interest. Another two or three episodes in that tone perhaps... LOTS of discussions on the nature of heaven and hell, judgement and reparition, and concepts of karma. I was in pig heaven ;->

Tweedle can be taken as a broad caricature of the 'everyman' archetype, especially when compared with the other three ;-> The four actually form an intriguing balance: Kai as the emotionless, calculating aspect; 790 as the overwrought bundle of emotions (and no body to fulfill them, poor moop); and Xev and Stan as two sides of focus/action-reaction - Stan at the overweening selfish end of the scale, Xev further toward the selfless end.

Hooray a Lexx forum!

Nobody seems to have posted here for a while but what the hell.

Here are some random thoughts on the characters.

Ki combines the detached elements found in other sci-fi characters like 7of9, data etc with superhero traits. He reminds me of an early eighties new romantic, Phil Oaky I think.

Actually I find him the only really interesting one, whats good about the cast is the inter-relationships. Basically the show takes the unatainable love theme and never makes the mistake of resolving it (like they did in Friends).

I'm still slightly confused by series as a whole due to rather arbitary way its shown on UK TV where various channels seem to use it as an occassional schedule filler. What I like about it is while other series opperate in over a limited time period and area of space, Lexx encompasses the life and death of entire universes and beyond. It doesn't waste its time with cod sience or trying to explain the impossible, I was actually dissapointed when I discovered the reason for Zevs change.

thats enough for now, i'll chack back to see if anyones checked in.
