Hello! Clareabella here, I need some advice and as you are the writer nearest to the holy grail of publishing, then i thought i would ask you. My plan is to try and work for a newspaper or magazine, as a feature writer or freelance. But i have no experience what so ever. So I was thinking of picking a couple i would most like to work for and then making a sort of fanzine/magazine of my own as a sort of forum of the sort of work i can do. I was thinking of doing it mainly on the internet and then sending out some 'teaser' pages to the people i want to work for to get them too look at the web site. Good idea?? Some thoughts of yours would be greatly received!

ps: soz i havent' replied yet to 'ask the charactors' but my new job (which is going ok) means i don't get ample internet time, i can only sneak in a quick five minutes here and there! don't worry, i shall reply in due cource!

From what I hear journamlism is hard to get into, but there are specific journalism courses. I feel out of my depth on the issue, but I do recommend you take the question to here and, if you can, join and post about it. The woman who runs the place - Suzzie - writes for the Guardian and is a very nice and encouraging person. She's the one who can give best advice. Think there's a couple of other journalists there, actually. And a lot of poets. Not many novelists, though.
