2017 Reads - Your Best and Worst

Thanks for your feedback, and for checking out my book! My book seemed to get great feedback from women and young girls. Mostly liberal adult women. Conservative adults, not so much.

    So, about Ebook pricing...

update! I lowered my eBook price from 3.99 to 2.99, and I've sold a few more copies since. I think as a self-published author it's better to keep your eBook at 1-3 bucks if you want people who aren't familiar with your work to take a chance at buying it. Seems to be working so far.

Amazon wants publishers to slash ebook prices

an eBook is literally just a file. With paperbacks/hardcovers, You have printing, and shipping (which can include materials along with postage if you ship from home) These are ongoing costs, so they need to be factored into your price. This is why createspace royalties get lower when you have...

Amazon wants publishers to slash ebook prices

Which format brings in more money isn't an issue for me, as long as people are buying. I'm not losing money from my paperbacks seeing as how they only print them when I make a sale, unlike a friend of mine who printed 30 copies to sell from home and only sold 5. Most friends and relatives wanted...

Amazon wants publishers to slash ebook prices

Also, paid advertising is optional, so I wouldn't factor that into the price either. Amazon offers a 70% royalty for ebooks priced over $2 simply because there is no printing/shipping involved.

Amazon wants publishers to slash ebook prices

Also, ebooks being priced below $5, makes them more affordable for my demographic of teenagers, as opposed to a $10 paperback.

Amazon wants publishers to slash ebook prices

If you're publishing a paperback along with an ebook, I wouldn't factor the cost of editing into an eBook price. If you ONLY have an ebook, maybe. I Prefer hardcovers and paperbacks. I don't read ebooks. I only went with that format because I know its popular, and they will sell in the long...

Amazon wants publishers to slash ebook prices

You're right about that. I just think it's odd when eBooks are priced high. paperbacks, I can understand because more work goes into those (printing/shipping ect) but eBooks, not really, so the only thing to really consider is page length, if one decides to be pricey. If your paperback is $15...

Amazon wants publishers to slash ebook prices

I just posted a thread regarding this same subject, where people from other articles/threads on other sites were saying a low priced ebook means low quality. I think 2.99-3.99 is good for most ebooks with less than 200 pages. Longer books, I think 4.99-6.99 is good. I would never pay more than...

    So, about Ebook pricing...

So I've read many articles/threads on the subject of eBook pricing and have come across many different opinions. Some self-published authors say it's a bad idea to price any eBook under 2.99 if you want to be taken seriously, while some readers say they won't take a chance on an unknown author...

Reviews: How to get your readers to actually leave them?

I have an author page on there as well. I use them to find books for myself.

Reviews: How to get your readers to actually leave them?

I promote my book on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Wattpad and Twitter. I also used bargain booksy to advertise my eBook.

Reviews: How to get your readers to actually leave them?

That's also another reason I join sites like these. I have friends that like to read, but not on the level that I do, so my social circle or readers and writers is VERY small, even though plenty of people have been supportive. I also wouldn't be surprised if some people bought a book to be...

Reviews: How to get your readers to actually leave them?

I have a fanpage, website, blog, ect.. I'm very socially active. But my followers tend to be "watchers" but not actually interacting.

Reviews: How to get your readers to actually leave them?

It could also be my lack of patience. I know for a fact that some people haven't finished it (128 pgs), but out of 20 sales in two weeks, I know someone has lol. Also, with amazon the buyers are anonymous, so besides maybe 7 or 8 people, I have no real idea of who else bought books to receive...

Reviews: How to get your readers to actually leave them?

I've noticed that as well. A friend of mine got 3 reviews on her first book (2 excluding me), and 1 on her second.(me).

Reviews: How to get your readers to actually leave them?

So a few of my readers have said they like my book so far, BUT... No one is leaving an actual reviews on Amazon. I've gotten one so far, and another reliable friend promised to leave one when she finishes the book, but my goal is at least 3 more. I don't like to beg, so I've only posted on...

    Self-publishing experiences and advice?

UPDATE: My book has been published, and I decided to go with KDP for my ebook, and createspace for my paperback. I chose to distribute through Amazon. A friend of mine went the route of selling/shipping from home (my original plan) but this being my first novel, I couldn't justify the costs of...
