What are you working on right now?

I look up and it’s been years since I’ve posted anything. I’m currently in the editing mines of my novel that I’ve spent far too many years writing, but the end is in sight and it’s finally all coming together. Fingers crossed for calling this one done in 2023.

    Outlining

I also fall between plotter and pantser. After starting and failing a few times at writing a novel, I found my current method for outlining works best for me. Something to keep in mind is that everyone writes differently and what works for one, won't for another. What I use is something like...

What did you blog about today?

Nice mix @Biskit . We have about 4 shades of brown and white, but all roughly the same size. We buy quail eggs every so often because the kids love how small they are and the fun patterns. I guess those can be considered quarter eggs.

What was the last movie you saw?

Got a copy of Willow on Blu-ray. It’s been over two decades since I’ve seen it, and it’s everything I remember it to be. It’s a movie with a lot of heart and some fun action.

Never Tell Me The Odds A few of my thoughts on the publication mountain writers face and choosing not to be discouraged by it.

Delilah Dawson on writing full time

It would be nice to make money writing, but it seems to me that writing with the market in mind or what you think will sell doesn't have a higher shot at publication. It may take you down a different path to publication that could be considered a safer bet, but it doesn't increase the odds...

What are you working on right now?

On chapter 9 of the second draft, which is a blistering pace for me over the last few weeks. I continue to add in scenes that have helped the story progress and feel alive, which means i'm coloring outside the lines of my outline. My favorite thing about outlines is that they really don't need...

Delilah Dawson on writing full time

Agreed. This also makes me really skeptical about paying too much attention to trends and what we think will sell. I'd rather write something that I enjoy, something that doesn't take the fun from creating, then try to move to the next step toward publication if it becomes a possibility. Either...

    Premise and Concept

It doesn't matter how many times I read articles or books about the craft of writing, it all still starts to blend together more often than not. We can't forget Concept has its own categories. Low and high! :-) I enjoy the insights, especially being able to see a term in a new light that could...

What did you blog about today?

Finding a Rhythm - The second draft, or how I continue to learn that there are no copy and past writing styles. Everyone is different and after letting myself discover my own method, writing is less of a chore, and a lot more fun.

    Premise and Concept

I think I agree with what she says, and fully endorse the idea that if every writer had the same premise, we would still see countless concepts being written. It is an interesting exercise to go deeper into the fundamentals of writing and separating these ideas into a simpler form to help both...

    Writing about Journeys

Agree with everything here. I’m writing a journey that takes up about 50% of the book. It’s the bits that is just getting characters from point to point that gave me problems. There are plenty of interesting things that happen along the way that moves the plot forward and develop character...

    Accountability with creative writing

There is certainly something to this. If writing isn't your day job, even if it is the eventual job you wish to have, it is nothing more than a hobby. Its not what pays the bills, so it will always take a backseat. Because of this, the accountability is faulty. This causes the big moments that...
