What Was American Paperback Fantasy Before 1977, and How Much of It Was Good?

The Broken Sword by Poul Anderson. I know, the early 1980s cover, but originally released in the mid 1950s. I know the early 1980s

    Audio Books

I listen to a lot of audiobooks. They fit in while driving or doing mundane tasks. I generally don't listen to nonfiction while driving because it's easier for me to miss something and have to backtrack to re-listen. But maybe that's just me. It really depends on the narrator(s) and if it's a...

What are you working on right now?

Not really. Although I am always glad to get through the first draft of a novel. It's the most 'grueling' part for me. I backed up the file on a flash drive, emailed a copy of it myself, and then went to bed (since it was well past midnight).

What has the publishing experience been like for everyone?

I started out writing a SF novel and put it out on submission, then a fantasy novel. When they got rejected, went on to the next market. While I was doing that I wrote about a dozen short stories and got them published, mostly in small magazines, ezines and a few anthologies (eventually, when...

    Book Hauls!

At a used book store, I managed to get mass market paperback copies of: The Changing Land, Dilvish the Damned and A Night in the Lonesome October, all by Roger Zelazny. I have hardback copies already, but seeing the paperbacks in good shape, couldn't pass it up. Probably will end up as some of...

    Mundane movement in Science-Fiction?

One Second After by William Forstchen. Similar to Alas Babylon. A little slow start (1st chapter and a half) but really a good read overall. I guess Forstchen made it into a series. When I originally read One Second After, it seemed a standalone, and I have not read further. It might be a...

    Changing POV

Something to consider, if the current work is the initial part in a series. Which POV will be best to carry forward for the rest of the series? Not like it cannot be switched from installment to installment, but there is some value in consistency for readers and their possible expectations.

    Long fantasy series Recommendation?

Steven Brust's Vlad Taltos Series...about 17 books, I think. And many are written in different styles and structures, which keeps them even more fresh.
