What literary feasts are you tucking into this February?

I'm stuck in Frank Herbert's Children of Dune. Not sure if I want to continue the series.

    The soldier of the future

Yes I would recommend the Night's Dawn trilogy as well. Lots of gripping scenes with highly genetically engineered mercenary soldiers in action. Think I will reread it myself. There's even a planet that can "jump away" when attacked.

    What do I call them?

Thanks. I like this one. Basically, I want the name of the race to be of 3 syllables made up her-ro-hern sounds.

    What do I call them?

There is a race in my story I plan to name Herohern, or herrohern (still working on the spelling), but what do I call them? Herohernien? Herohernese? without sounding too ridiculous? Thanks.

Please critique: a very short excerpt

Thanks Somni, I appreciate it. Now that you've pointed it out, yes I agree there are too many commas. I don't know where I picked up that habit... I guess I'll have to get rid of the unnecessary commas scattered all over my work. And yes the alteration you made sounds better than my...

    What we're reading in July...

I've just finished the first four books in the Fortress series by C. J. Cherryh. I liked them so much that I had to reread them twice. I can't get Tristen out of my head! There's a fifth book, but I have already spent all my book allowance for this month... this is so frustrating!
