    Lulu boo, Amazon yay?

That might depend on which Shout! Shout! you're referring to. Besides, we Brits tend to politely clap or mutter in consternation instead of shouting.

    Lulu boo, Amazon yay?

Back in 2012 it seemed like the best option to me. Oh well, I'm shot of them now (and they can keep the £1.96 of royalties)

    Lulu boo, Amazon yay?

Many moons ago, back when print-on-demand online self-publishing was in its infancy, I published my first novel via Lulu.com. It took a while. Recently I decided to relaunch my book with a far nicer cover and a bit of promotion. I went through the usual Lulu process - 2 hours to upload...

    Self Publishing Roll of Honour

Finally battled through the dross that was Lulu and come out the other side by publishing with Amazon directly for the new release of my first novel The Oracle Design, a near-future thriller. Links to the Amazon author pages below: Amazon.co.uk: Dave Barsby: Books, Biogs, Audiobooks...

Erk! Not very good with nursery rhymes or fairy tales. Still, submission in with 44 words to spare.

Apologies, peeps, I was renewing my phone contract and broadband at the same time and there were technical issues. Just managed to get back online to discover I've missed voting by a few hours

Not that au fait with cyber or steampunk so just taken a punt on what I think fits the genre (along with my now-traditional skewed interpretation of the theme, of course)

August 2017 75-word Writing Challenge -- VICTORY TO LITTLESTAR!

Waiting On A Moment Of Tenderness “Faster,” I said awkwardly with a moulding tongue and copper lips. Cyrex was flagging on the bellows. As was I. Oil lubricated our joints but our human parts still needed sustenance to charge our batteries. We pushed on, harder. Hoping we’d make it before our...

Discussion Thread -- July 2017 75-word Writing Challenge

Thanks to everyone who stuck me on their shortlist - really wasn't expecting any nods this month. And to be inclusive, thanks to everyone else for considering my entry. It has indeed been a bumper month for stories, though I think rather a few of them are too dark for Pixar to adapt. That was...

Pros and cons of KDP Select

I don't disagree and don't have a problem with that, but that's when you're a bit more established. I connect with my readers because they're friends already. How I get new readers I don't yet know to buy the book - that's the bit I struggle with and requires good marketing knowledge

Pros and cons of KDP Select

I am poised about to use KDP Select for the first time. From the above comments it doesn't sound too promising but with zero advertising budget I think the idea of going onto Select then quitting and going wide when the contract ends currently sounds like the best option. I guess it's just a...

Hopefully designed that darn book cover - opinions please

I apologise @ralphkern if I misinterpreted and misrepresented your advice, and assure you I will not make that mistake again. Thanks all for the various bits of advice. I will take them onboard, and if I have further queries I'll start a new thread.

It's not available. I think it needs relaunching.

Hopefully designed that darn book cover - opinions please

Thanks for the links, I'll have a look at the weekend when I've got time. @Flannery it is a soft relaunch, you could say. Some very minor text editing, but mainly a new cover and a willingness to do more than stick an update on Facebook to promote it. @AlexH I tried local bookstores...
