Has anyone read 'On Writing: A Memoir Of The Craft'?

I rather loved it. I think it gives you a really good idea of what the feel of writing is like, which I think is more important than the technical processes.

How many of these bestselling SF/F authors have you read?

13, with a few I'm not sure about

What are you working on right now?

Haven't done any writing in awhile, but I've been trying to read through some of my massive backlog. They say the best way to be a good writer is to be a voracious reader, so here I am. Hoping the groove is just hiding there, under the surface. I've got a few loose ideas I'm hoping will coalesce...

    Stephen King's Best Novel?

I just finished FINALLY reading IT. Great story, fantastic characters, and its length for me was a boon. As much as The Dark Tower cycle holds a special place in my heart, I think IT has displaced it as my favorite King story to date. Others on my favorites list include The Stand, Misery...

What are you working on right now?

Haven't actually done any writing in a while. With working 50-60 hours/week at work and enjoying time with the kids, all my free time has gotten sucked up elsewhere. Hoping to sit down soon and reread everything I've written so far (approx. 20,000 words) and see where the threads lead. Glad to...

    Can't Remember the Title

I don't think it was Koontz, but don't quote me on that. Its been ~15 years, so i can't remember much.

Strategies on getting writing done in a busy life

I feel your pain. As a full-time worker and father of two children, time seems to have abandoned me on a regular basis. Best advice i can give is, "Just keep swimming." Try to prioritize writing. And good luck!

    Can't Remember the Title

So, I'm looking for a book I once read. It's about a small town, I believe placed in Maine, where an ancient Native American cave is discovered and releases a demonic Force upon the town. There's a scene where the local priest has to battle the demon who has possessed a local. I can't for the...

    Shakespeare's New Contemporaries Competition

Alas, no playwright be I. But I thought it was worth throwing out there to see if any of our lovely Chronners were, in their spare time.

    Shakespeare's New Contemporaries Competition

Originating from the very city I live in, it's an open call to playwrights everywhere to place yourself alongside The Bard himself!

What makes a good book 1?

For the most part, I enjoy a book series if it's a world I find interesting. I'm one of those readers that would happily chew through 50 books set in the same universe if the quality is up to par. The Amber Chronicles is a prime example of a long series [10 books, split evenly between two...

    The Stand book cover

While I like the artwork, it does leave one wondering what the heck is going on lol. I have a newer version of the book with one of the Four Horsemen (Pestilence, being the most fitting guess) *Also, to flash my nerd card heavily, I was amused by the fact that Pestilence was on the cover of my...

    Jellyfish

Personally, "gellies" feels a tad bit antiquated to me, which fits nicely with the overall vibe you seem to be going for, while still immediately summoning the image of a "jelly" or "jellyfish".

Swords—what sound do they make when drawn

I guess it all depends on what you use to draw them with. Pencils can be squeaky, but pens are relatively quiet, I find. ... ... ... ... ...I'll let myself out. :ROFLMAO::lol::ROFLMAO::lol::ROFLMAO:

    Word processors / writing software

I stick with Word, mostly because I do most of my writing on an old Netbook that I already have loaded with the full Office suite, and also because I loathe working on iDevices in general. No hate to those who do, but I just have never been a fan. I will say that everything I've heard about...

    Skyrim remastered: Special Edition

I'd like to see Elsweyr / Black Marsh in the next one, personally.

    Skyrim remastered: Special Edition

Yes, but Serana is a much more interesting character than most of the sidekicks available, so I'm willing to forgive a lot for her :inlove:
