Sorry, but I totally disagree with this statement. And if I ever read a book that uses this principle, I'll invite everyone to my first-ever book burning! Hogwash. If anything, the serious fantasy writer has to take more care not to violate the 'natural rules' of his world!

Seriously though, I'd just assume it was a bluff and do nothing out of the ordinary. (Of course, that wouldn't do anything for the story!)

I'm just the opposite I have rather enjoyed this type of storytelling, but am rather a hater of 'prophecy' stories. One of the things I liked best about Star Wars was that Luke rejected the 'prophecy', and proved his father still had some good in him!

Very much agreed! Emotional development is, majorly, a factor of environment in humans, and would likely be so in alien races. If elves live thousands of years, but it's in a time of serious poverty, war, etc., they're likely to mature very quickly. I think this is more culture-oriented, than...

I neither go out of my way to avoid cuss words, nor to add them in. I'd say there is a small amount of cussing in my writings. Perhaps, unconsciously, that reflects my own usage.

This is a ripoff!! I did a search on YouTube for the Night Gallery show Green Fingers... this is what came up. Disturbing, but far less story than Rod Serling's episode! Hands down, the Night Gallery version is superior.
