    Possible Space Propulsion Systems

This is a really interesting question.....here's my two bits worth. 1. You either accelerate and decelerate for a LONG time.....which makes the characters get old pretty fast. 2. E=mC^2 - You solve mass (eg. warp field) and essentially bring that factor to 0. - Solving propulsion...

Avoiding making the antagonist side too strong...

The problem I had with the Borg is that once again if you take out the "Queen" then they all just collapse in a heap. This plot line has been used over and over again.....it's tedious and boring IMHO. It's the classic case of individualism triumphs over a hive mentality.....

    Favourite ship names?

Dauntless - EE Doc Smith, The Lensmen Vesti and Yorktown - Star Trek Altavia and Alturus - The Mindwars Book 2....still being written! :-) I like all of these names because I have a personal attachment to them when I read the books, played a game with my father or have written a novel....I find...

    Lightning Source vs Createspace

After a lot of research I ended up going with Createspace. The reason for this was that: 1. The quality was good. 2. No real setup costs. 3. Linked to Amazon Also, buy your own ISBN numbers as you are now your own publisher. They are really cheap and if you read about other authors experience...

Avoiding making the antagonist side too strong...

The Incredibles taught us that it's because the bad guy is either wearing a cape or they end up "monologing". This means they don't stand a chance against an under rated, hopelessly outclassed hero. :-) Seriously, I'm with you on this one....I don't like all powerful bad guys acting stupidly...

Mistborn Brandon Sanderson - does it cheer up?

I must admit that I really enjoyed the books as well. What hooked me was the magic system...burning metal was incredibly unique.

The First Time You Read a given Favorite Writer You were...... You Fill In The Rest

Trudi lives about 30 minutes from my house....I'd love to catch-up with her one day. I must admit that I made it through book 1 of the Magician's Guild series but couldn't read any more. I'm really pleased that her new novels seem to be good reading.

The First Time You Read a given Favorite Writer You were...... You Fill In The Rest

I remember reading a little book called "Black and Blue Magic" when I was about 8. It was a magical story of a boy that used a special cream to grow wings....it was beautifully written and to this day I still remember the cliff hanger at the end. A number of years later I was fighting with my...

Brandon Sanderson "The Way of Kings"

I really enjoyed both of the books in this series. The only points that became a little annoying was when Sanderson went back into the past and did a bit of character development. It got a LOT bogged down in those times. Once you were in Kaladin's story it became really interesting.

The Mindwars - Start of Book Two

LOL! I didn't even notice the C starting words..... Agreed. Many thanks for your input :-) This is a tough one that I will continue to work on..... As others have noted....I made the mistake of assuming that readers had read book one. Many of these descriptions of this area are within the...

    Inish Carraig - incoming!

I produced Battleframe via Createspace.com (an Amazon company) and they did an outstanding job. I built my own Word templates and selected the typeface etc and the result turned out really well. Just give me a call on skype if you want to discuss the details Jo. Happy to share!

    Sciencefiction.com and Battleframe

I'm really pleased to announce that this Sunday the first of 10 episodes (about 7 chapters) of my book Battleframe will be released on sciencefiction.com. Following up from this will be a number of other interviews, behind the scenes intrigue and a book review. This is really exciting for me...

    Issues of quality

I think that the cover catches the attention, the blurb inspires the reader to turn pages and the book needs to stand on it's own.

All really great points Denise! I really do believe that covers are what often sell the book.

    Review of Abendau's Heir

Hold on everyone....hold the horses! I want to make sure that EVERYONE understands that I wrote a very positive review and gave the book 5 stars. Punctuation is often a style issue that is greatly influence by language, culture and upbringing. Sure, there are some rules but a writer can make a...
