    Last Dragon - J.M. McDermott

This is a perfect description of me while trying to read this book. I fell asleep a couple of times :o It didn't really grab me, but I'm going to give it another shot next time I go home(in college atm).

    Leigh Eddings passes away

Taken from Locusmag.com: I just found this out today, and didn't see it posted anywhere, so I figured this would be the appropriate place to put it. The Belgariad was one of the first books that got me into reading in general, so this was a bit of a shock for me. I know she will be missed.

    It's March and we're reading...?

Let's see, right now I'm currently reading a collection of Conan stories, the title of which seems to escape me at the moment. I'm also reading The Lions of Al-Rassan by G.G. Kay. Readings been a bit slow lately due to life. It's always getting in the way. Remembered the name now...

New year, new books... What we're reading in January.

Finished Scar Night several days ago, but will hold my thoughts for now. I'll just say that it was a solid debut. I also read Kate Elliot's Spirit Gate which I thoroughly enjoyed, and now I plan to finish Jeff Vandermeer's Shriek(which I meant to have already started) Here's to many...

    What we're reading in December...

    Vote for Jan/Feb/Mar Titles

I think I'm going to participate as well. I have Amazon Prime(free 2-day shipping), so mine should be in next week sometime, and I'll start reading it right away. I'll have it read in a couple of days probably. I guess I should order the other two as well, but probably won't get around to it...

    What we're reading in December...

From what I've read of Lovecraft(around 10 or so stories, so I'm no expert), it's a bit of a mixed bag for me. I thought his later stuff showed a definite improvement over his earlier stuff. Anyway, I just finished The Orphan's Tales by Catherynne Valente(which was quite good btw). Now I'm...

    Catherynne M. Valente

Definitely not just for children, but it's really not epic fantasy. I'm actually in the middle of this one, but I can tell you that she has beautiful imagery, and a great sense of humor in her writing. It's basically a story of fairy tales, where she puts her own twist on them, and from what...

    Ps3

The PS3 is a good deal for it's price. I just don't believe we need Blu-Ray or HD-DVD right now. I guess I just don't see the point. Yeah, the movies do look a bit better but it doesn't justify the price for me. All I want a PS3 for is to play the games. Now I can't get one because it's too...

October Offerings - What tantalising tome are you reading?

Haven't been reading much lately, but I just finished Fevre Dream by George R. R. Martin and started The Grass-Cutting Sword by Catherynne Valente. After that it's onto House of Chains by Steven Erikson.

The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch

I've read that review, and I think Brys pretty much summed up my thoughts on it. I enjoyed it immensely! :) Speaking of this book, I got my signed copy from Clarkesworld in last week. Did I mention it contained the typed manuscript of the prologue of the next book in the series, Red Seas...

    L E Modesitt Jr

I'm a fan as well, although I enjoyed his earlier work best. I've read the Recluse saga, some of the Spellsong, and his Ghost novels. He does tend to reuse some ideas, especially the themes, which make some of the later works a bit flat, IMO of course.

Greetings and Salutations from East Tennessee

Ack! Sorry for the delayed response. My computer at home is disassembled while we put some flooring down. To answer you: Middle, which makes it easier to travel around when you need to go somewhere.

Greg Keyes - The Blood Prince

I think you mean The Blood Knight. ;) But yes, this is a good series, and The Blood Knight is the best by far, IMO.

    Author's Blog

I really meant to post about this when it first came out, but I never got around to it. Guess I'm just lazy...:o There has been some interesting discussion there though, and I do remember some people taking issue with the concept of 'deep' genre.

    Jolly good July reading...

Already have it, and enjoyed it as well, so I second that notion. :D So, I finished The Blood Knight and I have to say that it was better than the previous two. Now, I'm reading Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars trilogy.
