AI to take over creative writing

It's probably inevitable. And, frankly, for the end user its going to be better. One day, assuming that technology doesn't hit a brick wall, it'll be a real-time thing... and not just with written text. I was having a conversation with a friend the other day about the possibility of films being...

    multiple characters, close third person

Gosh, I have missed this forum. Um, well I have a fourth character, who is a sort of guide/ancient who I think I might use to introduce the group (though I have already paired off the third character who will have her own track but be mentioned in the meeting of the now 2 instead of 3 main...

    multiple characters, close third person

When you are writing a story and have multiple main characters, all of which you are writing pretty close to, how do you handle it when they are all in the same scene without head hopping?

Just finished my first draft, and tips for what to do next?

How did you know? I do want to work on something else for a while, I am also quite tempted to start on it now. But it's 1:15 in the morning. I did take a break that was a few months about a quarter of the way through and gave it a read to get back into it. The great thing was it was almost...

Just finished my first draft, and tips for what to do next?

I knew it, I just didn't want to admit it.

Just finished my first draft, and tips for what to do next?

It might be a silly question, and I have a plan already. I just wondered if there were any surprises that any of you guys encountered when you went through it?

Making a Plasma Bolt without breaking physics... in SPACE

Like vortex cannon, that shoots a hoop of air and knocks over a hay bail or something? Or Heston's onion smoke ring gun?

    Too much in a title

What about making the prequel a part 1 and 2? It would be less confusing. Or something like this. I do like the Children of Benchil.

Should Arthur C Clarke have been competing in the challenges?

But we can link to things, no? Read Arthur C. Clarke's Super Short, 31-Word Sci-Fi Story, "siseneG" | Open Culture Found while I was looking for the 180 word story. EDIT: And the 180 word one. http://cow.mooh.org/051100.shtml

    Twas

My spellchecker (Google Docs) is trying to get me to change "It was the night before" to "Twas the night before" Now is it just me or is this not a thing? I am writing Post Apocalypse. I mean it might be right if I was writing in the past or something. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Writing about large groups of people.

Thanks. This sort of approach is what I'm thinking about, though the PoV choice is made for me because there is only one PoV in the book. It's going well so far too :) I had a scene where everybody was being introduced to the field equipment that they will be using and my MC is basically a pro...

Writing about large groups of people.

I was going to make a Harry Potter comparison as well xD I am just wondering how all the different people are going to act, my brain kind of wants to give each one a story line - even though my MC might only catch a glimpse of whats going on. I guess I could split them into groups of friends...

    Making Mars Habitable

You see, this is why I don't know much grammar :D Admittedly, trying to write a novel with bad grammar knowledge isn't a best case scenario but I always hear people not enjoying books and writing because they can't get over the authors use of grammar, and I think that's kind of sad. Ignorance...

Writing about large groups of people.

So I am writing another terrible novel and have just gotten to the part where I am going to be writing about a group of 10 people, or 15 I think I may have shaved 5 off because I'm a chicken. And to a lesser extent a more experienced group of 25. So basically there is a group of park rangers...

    Making Mars Habitable

Best books I read about this were Kim Stanley Robinsons Red, Green and Blue Mars books. And he did a brilliant job of doing the terraforming. Have just found this for you though... " Talking to SETI's Blog Picture Science podcast, Robinson explains that his ideas about terraforming Mars, back...

words and phrases that should be avoided

I don't mind delving into the thesaurus at times. But I am pretty careful about it because it is easy to choose a word that you think is right but really isn't. But, lately, I have developed a new habit which has lead me to a bit of a revelation. I usually end up deleting the word I was trying...

    They was or They were.

Maybe, in this instance, since people are trying on the new pronoun for size you could point out it's awkwardness, have it italicised or something so that the reader pauses and thinks about it. At least then people will know it's not bad grammar or something. Doesn't really help in a general...

    Silly question.

This is exactly what I want to avoid missing out on, the ordered revealing of stuff. Might as well just get the other book though because I keep picking it up and putting it down.

    Silly question.

Yeah I'd planned on that but chose the wrong one because it in the front cover of the first book The Hydrogen Sonata was right at the top and I assumed incorrectly that it was next - damned broken phones. Thanks for the tips tho.
