Recently, I read Murakami's Norwegian Wood and IQ84 and thought they were OK. And many years back read the sea of fertility tetralogy by Yukio Mishima and it was nothing special.  Much better were the several books by Kawabata - beautiful stuff. And Black Rain by Masuji Ibuse on the aftermath...

Yeah, enjoyed their series over the years. A couple of mates, and nice blokes, having a good time. Was heartened to see him, apparently, recovered in the latest series. Had not heard the news so it was a shock to see the dedication after the credits of the last episode.

Saw his 2001 remake at the Brussels International Fantasy Film Festival. If I remember correctly it was fun.

Well... two days of March, and most of February. A scifi trilogy that has been sitting on my shelf unread :eek: for almost thirty years. A trilogy in three paperbacks, inside a nice thick card slipcase with Chris Foss covers that form a triptych. Yes, I'm talking about Foundation by Asimov...

A re-read of the Saga of the Exiles tetralogy which I read around 30 years ago. Though a good read generally, this time round I thought it was over-long. That might be because I only had the chance to dip into it for a few moments every now and then rather than sit down for at least an hour in...

 Salt. A.K.A. Angelina Jolie Runs a Lot. Terrible film. I think it was trying to be clever (with twists in the story). If so, it failed. Just a "paint by numbers action film".
