Its a shame that you have to cherry pick the episodes in season 1 to make the whole thing watchable. I agree with the list however. Wheras I felt that BSG hit the ground running and died towards the end. B5 was a slow birth and went from strength to strength.

Oh well, you have persuaded me to watch it. i gave up on BSG after half way through season 4. What started as an amazing show, gritty, realistic, and well scripted, degenerated into pointless fantasy. I will watch the end now.

I liked the whole scene you set. I could picture it. I have just two comments, and they are just my opinion. You have built up such a strong picture, such a good description, there is no real need to repeat how good a place it is. I would at least loose the sentence "It would be a good place...

I too apologise for not reading the entire thread, but my favourite fantasy novel is Lord of Light by Roger Zelazny. Especially as it is written in a over the top fantasy way, but if you actually go back and re-read it, it has no magic, and no fantasy.

Although I loved the pern books, and even more the Rowan series, my favourite remains the Ship Who Sang. The first and only book that when I finished it I went back and re-read it immediately.

I dread to think what they do with Ender's game. I cannot see how they are going to get the whole concept across. It could probably end up being another starship troopers. Even if they manage it, how would they deal with Speaker for the dead
