    Midsection extract

Yeah good point. I have most of the plot worked out, but the bit before that bit is a bit hazy. Anywhos, I'm gonna do a big re-write and post it up later when I've got other aspects figured put, organisation was never my strong point :\ Thanks for the input everyone :)

    Midsection extract

Hey, thanks so much for all that input fkatona. I'm in the process of a re-write, using your advice and everyone else's, so hopefully I should have an improved version up soon. I just thought in the meantime I'd give some context to the scene, this may help with your understanding of why I did...

    Midsection extract

Thanks for the feedback Teresa. I think I made the mistake of posting this knowing exactly where it was in the story and the characters and they events that had happened just previously, looking at it alone I can see what you mean, it doesnt really do much. Is it okay to post re-writes up...

    Midsection extract

----*---- Still it snowed, thick, swirling, Domatra a mass of white flakes and pale grey sky. The vast tower, usually just visible to the west appeared to have vanished in the unending blizzard, but the large silver orb hanging over the high arched doorway told her that it was still very much in...

What to do when you are uninspired?

I've always wondered how other people get through a particulary thick fog of writer's block. This happens to me quite a lot, sometimes when I'm at the centre of a really important plot point. What methods have people found to combat this, if any?

    Character development

Also, I thought I'd add, if you are any good at drawing, you might be useful to do a few sketches of your character at various parts of the story. Or keep a scrapbook of people that look like you image your character to look. I know this is more about how the character looks that making them...

Fantasy vs Science Fiction: A Poll

:D True! I'm like a kid in a sweet shop when you get me in the fantasy section in the library. Sci-fi can become a little bit generic I think, not all sci-fi, but I guess theres only so many things that can happen in space (to take this branch as a particular example). Give someone a magic wand...

    Organising the entire thing!

Hey everyone. I just wanted to get some feedback on the different ways of organising used during the planning process. This is the part of my writing I most struggle with. I've got myself a ringbinger for all my written things with sections, but I often end up unclipping all my sheets, clearing...

    Which is your Favorite/Best?

    1) Prisoner of Azkaban 2) Order of the Phoenix 3) Goblet of Fire 4) Chamber of Secrets 5) Philosopher's Stone 6) Deathly Hallows 7) Half Blood Prince Though I'm a massive fan of the whole series, just have to say that the third was the ultimate best. Just can't stop reading that one. And the...

Fantasy vs Science Fiction: A Poll

Fantasy all the way. It's just the idea of magic, which seems to play a much bigger part in fantasy, though it is not always absent in sci-fi. What can I say, I'm a child at heart :D

    Stephen King's Best Novel?

Definitely agree! Only read about four or five of King's, but this one freaked me right out. Extremely creepy! Definitely one of my top ten of all time.

Do you listen to music when you write?

Yeah most of the time, and the music changes depending on what kind of scene I'm writing. For example, action and will be rock, chilled out, maybe the Corrs or something, romance, Goo Goo dolls, etc. Really gets me in the zone :D

If you could ask JK Rowling anything

Oh, and what was it that Dudley saw in book 5 when he was demented that freaked him out so badly. Unless I blatantly missed it, it's never explained anywhere, a lose end she missed maybe?

If you could ask JK Rowling anything

What on earth possesed you to pair Harry with Ginny when Luna is so awesome?

    Character development

The method I use the most to make my characters come to life and get to know them better is the interview technique. Think of every area of the characters life, for example family, friends, childhood, beliefs, favourite things, hates, prejudices, baises, temptations, loves, hobbiesm skills...
