What Game Are You Currently Playing?

To be fair, The Witcher 3 definitely has its own feel thanks to the Polish inspiration. Also, I'm about to set out for the beastren nation, which looks more desert-like, so I'm intrigued to see how that's handled. On the original Dragon's Dogma, I agree. The combat was great the plot actually...

What Game Are You Currently Playing?

'Aught' is still used but not much. Made me smile to hear it again, though. I'm enjoying the game quite a lot, still in the early stages.

What Game Are You Currently Playing?

Dragon's Dogma 2. Very similar to the original and I like it rather a lot. Going down my usual mage route (maxed that, currently halfway into sorcerer). Magic's pretty fantastic. The pawns still chatter a lot but it's more contextual and they do bounce off each other's comments. Plus, it's cool...

What Game Are You Currently Playing?

I think it's more to do with people liking the Starship Troopers memes. Although I could be wrong, as I don't play it (not my type of game).

What Game Are You Currently Playing?

The second Tenchu game (think it's that one... might be the third) is better. It has three player characters, and Tatsumaru has some very cool finishers. Also, you can build your own levels in a very intuitive and fun feature.

    Mongoose's Marvellous Miscellany

Extra shield mechanics is this month's free post. Essentially, it's strange/inaccurate to see shields as purely defensive. Limiting each shield to one type of bonus action was mostly a balancing matter, though I think it'd be interesting to write up a full combat mechanic for shields. Here's...

    Mongoose's Marvellous Miscellany

Btw, made a new Twitter account dedicated to this sort of stuff. Will have a mix of TTRPG stuff, general fantasy world-building, history, etc, and if you find that sort of thing interesting I'd really appreciate a follow: https://twitter.com/mongoose1066

What did you blog about today?

Surprised to see anyone suggest the start should be a bit longer/bigger. Overall, I liked re-reading The Dragonbone Chair when I did it a year and a half ago. Review: The Dragonbone Chair, by Tad Williams

    Mongoose's Marvellous Miscellany

Bit earlier this month than usual but I liked this one a lot, and it's good for general fantasy writing as well as RPG world-building: Why Castles are Abandoned https://www.patreon.com/posts/why-castles-are-98344830 Abandoned ruins, perhaps especially castles, are a fun place to explore in...

    Old Games Nostalgia

Toby, some aspects are surprisingly advanced, though. The story has quite some twists, from memory, and in combat you can do combos (try Chaz's Cross-cut and, I think, Rune's Hewn ability. Doesn't always work, but sometimes it creates the Grand Cross attack).

    Old Games Nostalgia

I've mentioned this before here, I think, but Phantasy Star IV is a great RPG, and can be bought on Steam for 99p.

    Mongoose's Marvellous Miscellany

Crazy Weather Ice Rain aka Hail from Hel My first homebrew campaign is set in a Scandinavian/northern European type of climate, so ice rain or hail from Hel (the frozen underworld in Norse mythology) is very much on the agenda. Ice rain I envisage as icicles of a relatively small size. These can...

You Wake Up and Find Yourself back In The 11th Century

I thought the Indians invented zero (with it being described as part of the Arabian numerals as it was transmitted to Europe via Arabia)?

    Harry Potter

Same. The first book had a decent twist but the story/writing didn't grab me.

    Mongoose's Marvellous Miscellany

Fantasy world-building: the short siege. This is my first free content on Mongoose's Marvellous Miscellany, and may be of interest for general fantasy world-building as well as those into TTRPGs. Not going to copy and paste the whole thing because it's almost two thousand words, so here's the...

    Mongoose's Marvellous Miscellany

That ever-so humble title is the name of the Patreon account I just started. It's all about sharing new ideas, both entirely original and inspired by history and myth, primarily with a view to helping flesh out and spice up TTRPGs (the numbers are based on 5e) but may also be of interest for...

What Are Your Favorite Cartoons , Cartoon Characters and Animated TV Series ?

I think I remember that. It was a world of islands and seafarers but the water was turning black and unnavigable... was a lot of fun, if I remember rightly.

What Game Are You Currently Playing?

Started a new game of Stellaris for the first time in a little while. Mostly my neighbours love the Serene Republic, as it's super nice, but I do have some (thankfully distant) fanatical purifiers, and the nearby honourbound warriors loathe me too. The only strategy game since Civ II I can beat...
