I'm probably going to blow against the wind here (probably very hard) but I actually didn't rate the book at all. So a film might actually be an improvement!
*ducks*
I disagree with you Overread. People and wildlife can go hand in hand. They have for centuries. It's true that humans have damaged, killed and generally been nasty to wildlife but there are also countless examples of humans helping, supporting and nurturing life. It's a case of getting the...
Okay, we have snow as a bit of a theme so get flakes up here and there.
The snowflake hanging was made by my mum and the ones hanging from the light were made by my mother-in-law.
Okay, as promised...
Let's start with our main tree and a little trinket tree my wife found this year.
Then a couple of wreaths. The second one was made by my mother-in-law.
And our Christmas fridge monkeys!
I love your Green Man head decoration. When I saw you'd changed your avatar to that I didn't realise it was your own - I thought it was a picture. I want one! (stamps foot)
You've got some great decs. Do you bring the houses out just for Christmas?
I'll take some photos of our decs this...
Well I'm not Culwhch but if you're referring to his desktop image it's the cover art to U2s 'Rattle and Hum' album. Bono's holding the light and The Edge (I believe) is doing his stuff.
Yeah that's part of it. In Gemmell's 'Winter Warriors' he has three characters that have been heroes in their past and need to wear the mantle again - Nogusta, Kebra and Bison.
I don't know if I just got fed up with young heroes or what, but I think older characters have tended to be neglected...
A seagull perched on a nearby wall watched intensely as Cecily entered the blue police box. The seagull couldn't believe its eyes. The blue box faded as a strange noise emanated from its vicinity and then it was gone. Bewildered the seagull stared at the spot where the box had just been when a...
It's easier for me to define the character types I don't like. I can't stand the characters that seem blessed but don't actually have to work for their achievements - so I'm definitely Batman over Superman any day of the week. Also hate characters where they accidentaly accomplish something as...
Roger Brathwaite hated his Uncle Alexander. The whole family seemed to be in awe of Alexander and saw him as some sort of Saint but Roger knew better. Roger had seen the real Alexander; the one hiding behind the goody-two-shoes facade and Roger was mean and wicked enough himself to exploit the...
"Wait! Come back.." the hooded being on the corner shouted in a surprisingly human voice but Lord Blanchett had gone. The being threw back its hood and Cecily gasped as she gazed on the demon beneath.
"You...you're Tony Blair aren't you?"
"Yes."
"But..but what do you want with my father?"...
Seeing this thread has reminded me that I need to finish this series. I've only read one of them and did enjoy it. It wasn't up to his Warlord trilogy but still very enjoyable. I find you can't go far wrong with Cornwell for a good read - I've enjoyed all his books. Sharpe. The Grail trilogy...
No adaptation is ever going to be perfect and please everybody. Jackson et al, in my opinion, overall did a good job with the LOTR films. Yes, there was 'artistic licence' and yes there were parts I wish he'd never introduced. But overall, I thoroughly enjoyed them as films based on the books...
