    Now who do i read!?

You could give Joe Abercrombie's The Blade Itself a go perhaps, although a bit different. Joel Shepherd's Sasha A Trial of Blood and Steel, too. The Black Company is certainly worth a look. Steven Brust's Jhereg, etc. Robert E. Howard, absolutely.

    Space Opera and Humour anthologies

SPACE OPERA The New Space Opera - Gardner Dozois and Jonathan Strahan Space Opera - Rich Horton The Space Opera Renaissance - David G. Hartwell and Kathryn Cramer Older : Space Opera - Brian Aldiss These I think, given they say Adventure in the Grand tradition, dodgy name as far as pinning...

    Space Opera and Humour anthologies

Thanks, will see if I can find them. The Aldiss Space Opera isn't too good, but has some high points, as least. Ok, well I didn't get that impression particularly when reading the non-fiction material. There's no doubt that currently Americans aren't the best at it, for sure. Banks and...

    Space Opera and Humour anthologies

The New Space Opera is indeed excellent. Thanks for the suggestions are the other Aldiss books similar then in content? (I haven't looked yet). The Hartwell/Cramer overviews they have produced are a bit different to other anthologies - their aim is discussion as well as story provision, of...

A book about a man who could see without using his eyes

The Henry Sugar story is the lead story in a collection, it is not a novel as such. The stories there are not written deliberately for kids like Charlie and the Chocolate factory, or that sort of thing, so should be fine.

    Glen Cook?

Doesn't matter if it is Arthur Conan Doyle. :) Boring is boring, and while that might only be a couple of hours for me, I still might not bother. For others it might be a week or weeks to get through a few hundred dull pages?

A book about a man who could see without using his eyes

In Henry Sugar he is playing 21, not poker, so if you are sure it is poker then it won't be that one, but the rest fits, mostly.

Fantasy vs. Science Fiction - Majority of Readers

Ignores? Some books, sure, but not all. You missed a little book called 'Dune' perhaps? The above is a broad generalisation that is just flat-out wrong. :)

Anyone else disappointed with Lies of Locke Lamora/Ash?

I agree that the start was really bad and boring as far as Locke Lamora goes, it did improve after that, but I almost gave it away at page 60 or so, much like you. I almost suspect editor padding to get to 'X length because it has to be X length' perhaps. 500 page caper book is not the best...

The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath, I think when I was about 8. Thought it was pretty trippy.

Herbert, Frank: How do the newer Dune series books compare with the Originals?

Yes, out of 5. If you don't like Dune overly to start with you'd likely go lower, I reckon.
